| Unlike the standard HC08 chips, the
HCS08 micro controllers from Freescale, have a full Back Ground Mode
(BDM) debug interface, similar to the HC(S)12 series of chips. This gives full access to the chip's on borard RAM, Flash and perphials. This makes learning about, testing and debugging the chip very much easier than it has been in the past. To access this feature of the chip, an interface is required, The "HCS08 SentiPed" is that interface. An optoisolation circuit is used to enable the SentiPed to work with a a wide range of different supply voltage target CPU's. This is also useful in situations where the target may be at a different earth voltage to the tool chain computer. As a result, a 7 to 12v DC supply is required, this is connected to the green screw terminals, seen here at the left of the case. |

| Software. The sentiped, may be used with a simple terminal program, such as is supplied with most operating systems, or with OCConsole.exe available for download from http://www.elmicro.com But for best effectiveness, get NoIce form http://www.noicedebugger.com/ Version 8.8 or higher. |
